It's been a productive and fun 2 weeks!  We managed to gather all the supplies for a guinea pig cage, no small feat when it involves a 4'x8' piece of corrugated plastic.  Amazing what will fit (mostly and probably not completely legally) in a Subaru.  Of course Bug's lego crew had to help with construction.  And we sewed more for the piggy in a few days than the cumulative for an entire year otherwise, which has given Lise a chance to practice her budding sewing skills.
The finished Pig Penthouse. It turned out cute.

She's a pretty snuggly pig.

Florida has been so 'cold' we've even had plenty of opportunities to wear our hoodies and long clothes!  The fair was perfect weather, we spent most of the day wandering through exhibits.  Bug entered a cakewalk. . . because he really wanted to and I figured he wouldn't win the cake with 24 other people participating.  He didn't win the cake, but the lady standing next to him did and gave it to him.  I asked him if he winked at her.  He just grinned that big, dimpled smile of his and laughed.  We managed to share enough of the cake with people around us that it didn't have to come home.

And we've turned into farmers. lol  I mean, look at those sweet potatoes!  The kiddos were dancing around the pot when they discovered them.  I asked Lise when she planted them. . .  last March.  I don't think we'd make it as sweet potato farmers but these are getting the prized dish at dinner.

We also spent a day at our favorite Japanese garden nearby for Oshogatsu, the New Year's festival.  The weather was lovely, sunny and cool.  There were tea demonstrations, games, the gardens, bonsai, the garlicky aroma of 'street' food, and music- the soft strings of koto and the beautiful, deep rhythms of the big taiko drums.  A wonderful way to spend a family afternoon and just one of those days when you find yourself thoroughly content.

Hope you've all had some out-and-about weather lately.  Here it is the perfect time of year and we try to soak up as much of it as we can!
