Happy New Year

We celebrated as normal- Japanese food at home and up for the first sunrise.  We are going to have to start bringing pancakes for the boy so we can make it more than 5 minutes into sunrise without being asked, "Can we go now?  I'm hungry."

The kids made mochi- a rice flour dumpling with sweetened red beans and chestnuts in the middle.  Yum!

Hubby made noodles; long ones for good luck.

Ramen!

The first sunrise was cloudy and pretty windy.

There were a few people on the beach, but mostly company was of the seabird sort.

No bright orange orb creeping up over the watery horizon this year to stain the sand pink.  It was much more subtle, and still very beautiful.  We had to pay attention to really see it.  The barest hints of pale feathered light around the edges of cloud windows.
Brighter.
The finale, a short burst of gold through a crevice in the clouds, quite lovely as it shimmered along the water.

And for the 100th time. . . "Can we go now?  I'm hungry."  Aren't they cute all bundled up?  I'm pretty sure the temp was around 60, there were people in shorts.  Even a few brave ones (likely tourists from very cold places) in the water.  Not the Floridians!

My sherpa :)

Love Florida in the winter! *hint*
